Understanding BIMI

What is BIMI?

Brand Indicators for Message Identification (BIMI) lets you display your brand logo next to your emails in supported inboxes like Gmail, Yahoo Mail, and Apple Mail. It builds on DMARC authentication to verify your brand identity.

Do I need a VMC certificate?

Gmail requires a Verified Mark Certificate (VMC) to display your BIMI logo. Yahoo and Apple Mail may display logos without a VMC. VMCs are issued by DigiCert and Entrust and require a registered trademark.

What are the BIMI logo requirements?

Your logo must be in SVG Tiny 1.2 Portable/Secure format (not standard SVG), hosted on HTTPS, square aspect ratio, and represent your registered trademark. Standard SVG files need to be converted to SVG Tiny PS format.

What DMARC policy does BIMI require?

BIMI requires DMARC with at least p=quarantine (p=reject is even better). If your DMARC is set to p=none, email clients won't display your BIMI logo regardless of your BIMI record.

Why We Built This Tool

BIMI is only valuable if it works end-to-end: correct SVG format, valid VMC certificate (if required), and strong DMARC enforcement. Missing any step means your logo won't display. This checker validates all prerequisites so you know exactly what's working and what needs fixing.

What Goes Wrong Without This

BIMI setup fails silently. A logo URL pointing to standard SVG instead of SVG Tiny PS format won't display. A VMC certificate that hasn't fully propagated causes rejections. DMARC at p=none won't trigger logo display. Teams don't know why their logos aren't showing.
